OUR WORK
Chief among Guarantee’s project means and methods was the placement underground and in-slab of the great majority of the electrical infrastructure supporting the new JB Veterans Hospital Energy Plant.  Applying this distribution method had the effect of front-loading a considerable portion of the electrical work prior to enclosure of the building.  Placing the bulk of conduit in-slab had the effect of freeing up ceiling space for the plant’s extensive mechanical systems.  In addition, Guarantee made substantial use of in-ground, concrete encased ductbanks to house and protect campus electrical and communications distribution running between the energy plant and the various buildings on the sprawling VAMC JB hospital grounds.

Communications Systems Infrastructure: in addition to the construction of the new VAMC JB Energy Plant, Guarantee Systems supplied a major upgrade of campus communications, significantly expanding the fiber optic network serving the buildings on the VA Hospital campus. In all, we pulled in over 15,750 ft. or about 3 miles of fiber (much of it distributed through the new ductbank system) with over 2500 fiber terminations, greatly expanding the medical center’s high-speed voice-data network and connecting the new energy plant.

SUCCESS
Replacing the facility’s power plant and electrical distribution throughout the sprawling, historic Jefferson Barracks VA campus was delivered on time and on budget by Guarantee’s electrical installation team.  Commissioning is expected to be concluded by January, 2015 as the plant is brought fully online, delivering abundant, lower cost energy to the VA Hospital. The plant was completed effectively on budget; moreover, over the twenty-six month project Guarantee’s crew maintained a flawless safety record with zero lost time injuries or incidents.

*Includes the USVA required General Contractor’s Self-Performance Contract Value of $3,060,000. This called for General Contractor, McCarthy Builders, to purchase the Generator and Switchgear packages to meet the Federal Government’s self-performance requirements.  In its role as electrical contractor, Guarantee Electrical partnered with McCarthy to manage acquisition, install and test the equipment, etc. and ensure that the self-perform requirement of the contract was fulfilled.
