Ameristar Hotel and Parking Garage
Location: St. Charles, MO
Client: Ameristar Casino
Size: 748,670 SF
Guarantee Electrical’s history of award-winning construction for Ameristar Casino helped Guarantee win the assignment for Ameristar’s $240 million, 25-story hotel and 2,350-space parking structure on the St. Charles riverfront. The project included:
- A 400-room, all-suite hotel designed to reflect the historic St. Charles’ Main Street with scenic views of the Missouri River and nearby cobblestone streets
- A nine-story, 2,350-space parking garage
- A 55,000-square-foot conference and meeting center
- A 7,000-square-foot spa
- Renovations to the existing porte cochere
- An indoor-outdoor pool with distinctive landscaping
Guarantee Electrical crafted the hotel’s central electrical power grid, and installed all power, lighting and life-safety systems. It coordinated with GECO Systems for expert design and installation of the hotel’s audio-visual, voice-data, security and fire alarm systems.
To speed installation and meet fast-track schedule requirements, Guarantee devised a plan to install electrical raceways as concrete slabs were poured for the post-tensioned concrete structure. This staging allowed Guarantee crews to continue electrical and systems installation as the concrete cured, shaving weeks off the aggressive schedule.
Guarantee also broke the usual mold of floor-by-floor hotel power distribution by devising a new electrical distribution system to maximize space for luxury suites. Its application of the Square D Integrated Power and Control Solutions (IPACS) panel system created far more efficient branch circuit distribution, allowing Guarantee to concentrate branch circuits in two locations – on the third floor for service to the first 14 floors and the 24th floor for floors 15 and above. In addition to reallocating space to revenue-producing hotel rooms, Guarantee’s solution saved the owner money and accelerated completion by reducing the number of branch circuit panels in each electrical room from 15 to only five.
A third creative solution achieved the owner’s desire for cost-efficient, custom-designed lighting fixtures throughout the hotel. Guarantee identified and worked with a local manufacturer to produce fixtures to high quality specifications, and managed changes quickly to keep the project on schedule.
Guarantee collaborated with Walton Construction, general contractor; Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo, design architect; Peckham, Guyton, Albers & Viets, Inc., architect of record; and Berger Devine Yaeger Inc., conference center architect.
