Following the devastating hurricanes that ravaged the Florida coast in 2004, Fort Myers-based beer distributing company, J.J. Taylor Companies, Inc., sought to redesign its beer distribution center to withstand future natural disasters. The firm turned again to Guarantee Electrical, which had completed an addition to J.J. Taylor’s Tampa Bay distribution center in 2004. Guarantee’s design-build team partnered with Holleran-Duitsman Architects of St. Louis and general contractor FN Thompson Co. of Charlotte, N.C., to fast track renovations to completion in just nine months.
Calling on Guarantee’s extensive past experience working with beer distribution facilities to meet the exacting standards of Miller, Coors, Heineken, Guinness and other premium beers, Guarantee provided complete electrical design and construction of a 6,000-square-foot cooler, a product storage area, truck docking, and truck wash and maintenance areas. The $530,000 electrical project also required 30- to 50-foot candle lighting installation throughout the product storage area and aisles, and special backup generators designed to withstand future hurricane force.
