Renee Freeman is an IBEW Apprentice and spends her free time volunteering with MOWIT, Missouri Women in Trades.
"I am very ambitious with my volunteer work, and excited to share it. My long-term goal is to become a community/minority outreach coordinator, so (doing things like this) is perfect for me," Renee shared.
For example, her weekend at The Baker House included going over the National Electrical Code book with the women shadowing her, basic electrical / tools / materials / and more. They replace light fixtures, add duplex receptacles, and work alongside the carpenters to create living spaces so The Baker House can house more residents. Her volunteer service work is when she uses her skills that she has learned in prefab, IBEW trainings, and job site experience to help people in our communities.
Other projects can range from total remodels to appliance circuits and beyond. This is when Renee and the MOWIT volunteers make sure they have all of the right PPE including safety glasses, gloves, and basic power tools.
"Everyone (has) a great time working together, teaching, sharing stories, and inspiring each other," she added.
From all of your colleagues and friends at Guarantee Electrical Company, thank you for all that you do, Renee!
