Guarantee Electrical Company has announced its award of the new HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Southern Illinois. St. Elizabeth’s Hospital recently received approval from the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board (HFSRB) to build a replacement hospital and ambulatory care center along Interstate 64 and Green Mount Road in St. Clair County.
The new hospital will replace its current hospital, originally built in the 1950s, with a modern hospital located on a 114-acre campus and will also contain an adjoining ambulatory care center. St. Elizabeth’s replacement hospital will include 144 private patient rooms, an emergency department, state-of-the-art operating rooms, an advanced intensive care unit, and inpatient rehabilitation. St. Elizabeth’s plans to offer a wide array of inpatient and outpatient services at the new facility, including cancer care, modern birthing suites, tele-health consultations featuring accredited stroke care, and award-winning heart care.
For its part, Guarantee Electrical will be responsible for construction of the entire electrical infrastructure at the hospital including site civil excavation, incoming power distribution, tenant electrical, and fiber and cabling for the low voltage systems. The hospital’s state-of-the-art systems technologies will include mass notification fire alarm, nurse-call, card access (intrusion control), and voice-data to name a few.
Doug Mertzlufft, President of Guarantee Electrical Company added, “We are very excited to be part of the progress and community engagement taking place in Southwestern Illinois. The new St. Elizabeth’s Hospital project will bring new jobs and improved healthcare to the region.”
Construction on the $300 million project has begun with the temporary power currently being installed. The entire project duration is expected to be completed within 26 to 30 months.
