For the seventh straight year, Guarantee Electrical Company (GECO) has been named as a finalist on multiple projects for the AGC Missouri Construction Keystone Awards. With 16 Keystone wins including several project and Subcontractor of Year (SCOTY) awards in the last six years, GECO is hoping to continue the streak for its performances on the following construction projects; Stephen and Peter Sachs Museum at the Missouri Botanical Garden (Specialty/Subcontractor Building Construction Projects Under $3 million), BJC Campus Renewal Project Phase I (Specialty/Subcontractor Projects $5 million or more), and Museum of the Westward Expansion at the Gateway Arch (Specialty/Subcontractor Projects $5 million or more).
Working with General Contractor, Tarlton Corporation, Guarantee Electrical Company (GECO) served the team in supplying electrical and communications services to the 7,000-square-foot restoration of Henry Shaw’s original Library and Museum at the Missouri Botanical Garden. The goal was to achieve close alignment with the original 1859 design by St. Louis architect George I. Barrett.
The BJC Campus Renewal Project (BJC Towers) is a large multi-phase project to update and enhance the Washington University Medical Center (WUMC) through new construction and renovations: Phase I was chiefly the Barnes-Jewish Hospital (BJH) patient tower and the Saint Louis Children’s Hospital (SLCH) tower. Guarantee Electrical Company supplied a full array of electrical construction services to the team led by the ACW. Specifically, GECO was tasked to fit out the operating rooms, patient treatment areas, imaging areas and patient rooms, birthing suites and ICUs in, both, the BJH and SLCH new towers.
Recently opened to the public, the newly named Gateway Arch National Park project combines classic renovation with a near doubling of the museum’s footprint, albeit all underground. The expansion adds a second “wing” on two levels to the original museum space, plus an enlargement of the museum store and new exhibits. For its part, GECO, worked with McCarthy Building Companies providing new electrical infrastructure (power and lighting) as well as a complete digital communications system (security, fire alarm, Internet/Voice-Data) throughout the expansion. GECO was also contracted to provide the electrical construction services for the museum exhibit space via Kozeny-Wagner Construction.
The AGC St. Louis Construction Keystone Awards annually celebrates construction excellence and winners will be announced at the awards banquet in November 2018.
