The Belterra Park construction project involved the relocation and expansion of the existing River Downs horse racing venue to include two race tracks (a comparable one-mile dirt track and a new 7/8ths mile turf track inside the one-mile “footprint”), with new barns and veterinary medical and compliance testing facilities included. The entertainment features of Belterra Park include new construction of owner, Pinnacle Entertainment’s, 48,000sf state-of-the-art gaming facility, with everything from extensive new kitchens supporting five restaurants and a 4,000sf banquet service. The updated racing venue included wholesale replacement of the exterior lighting system throughout.  The aggressive schedule proceeded on time in spite of wet weather and major snow storms. Guarantee responded to the challenge by implementing proactive schedule controls with “on the fly” change management and a rigorous value engineering effort to contain and reduce the costs of implementation.

Highlights of the project included, providing distribution of power to the race track and grandstands, 18 barns & veterinary service areas, a maintenance building, guard shacks, a remote broadcast center, betting terminal area & 8500sf Belterra Club. Additionally, GECO provided turnkey electrical services on the 48,000sf Pinnacle designed gaming area with 1500 video lotto terminals supported by a Players’ Club HQ, VIP Lounge, six kitchens, five restaurants and nightclubs, and banquet area.  GECO Systems included digital lighting system and controls, fire alarm, card access security with a CCTV network for managing campus and casino surveillance, installing the casino’s robust voice-data network, capable of managing vast quantities of digital media along with cabling supporting the AV system including installation of over 1000 speakers and over 650 video cameras and 200 television monitors.  In total GECO Systems placed 54,000 feet of single mode fiber optic cabling, & just under 1,000,000 feet of copper throughout the park. In all, ten tele-data rooms were outfitted in the casino building with another four in the racing area to maximize band-width throughout the 122 acre facility.
