Amazon Warehouse & Logistics

Hamburg, PA

PROJECT DETAILS

Starting February 2020, Guarantee Electrical joined Contegra Construction to deliver three major Amazon facilities (RDG1, TEN1, ABE3), supporting the company’s nationwide push for one-day delivery. These projects, two new builds and the third a significant expansion, ranged from 200,000 square feet to 1.3 million square feet and were designed to meet Amazon’s aggressive standards for speed and efficiency. Each of the facilities featured high-bay LED lighting systems, advanced automation, and robust power distribution, including 15kVA high-voltage service, external transformers, and backup generators. Despite the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and a statewide shutdown, Guarantee’s team maintained momentum through diligent preconstruction planning and phased workflows.

Leveraging prefabrication, precision scheduling, and close coordination with local partner H.B. Frazer, the team delivered all three facilities on or ahead of schedule. The approach emphasized safety, efficiency, and cost control, achieving substantial budget savings without a single lost-time incident. These projects exemplify Guarantee’s expertise in fast-track logistics construction, combining innovative electrical solutions with disciplined execution to help Amazon meet its evolving fulfillment goals.

Project Highlights

  • Amazon RDG1, is 1.3 million SF, called for three (3) services of 4,000 Amps each, and involved a substantial expansion of an existing facility, roughly tripling its original size
  • Amazon TEN1 and ABE3 were close to identical in square-footage and overall scope, at roughly 500,000 SF.
  • Each of the buildings has 43-foot ceilings and are racked throughout for ease of access by forklift and conveyor, etc. supported by considerable fulfillment process automation
  • Power was supplied in 15kVA high voltage, transformed down by three external transformers and backed up by three generators
  • Among the features of Guarantee’s deliverables were the high-bay, ultra-bright LED lighting systems supported by robust, money-saving lighting automation
  • Power distribution was placed largely in-slab and routed up through the support pillars, set in adjacency to the LED fixtures
