USPS Mail Processing Facility Upgrade

Kansas City, MO

PROJECT DETAILS

Guarantee Electrical was awarded the electrical scope for a critical upgrade of a 1-million-square-foot USPS mail processing facility in February 2025. Facing a tight 12-week turnaround driven by USPS operational deadlines and modernization goals, GECO implemented a robust preconstruction and planning strategy to accelerate delivery. Through early negotiations with USPS and its general contractor, the team adjusted design criteria to streamline installation timelines. Field crews were mobilized within 48 hours, with 30 electricians on-site by the end of the first week, ensuring immediate progress in a high-traffic logistics environment.

Careful sequencing, proactive vendor coordination, and close collaboration with our joint venture partner, Pro Electric, were key to meeting safety and efficiency targets. GECO superintendents maintained a 100% on-site presence for real-time decision-making, while crews worked extended hours, six to seven days per week. Supported by three subcontractors and a workforce of 75+, the team substantially completed the project in just 10 weeks—beating expectations without compromising quality. The upgrade delivered comprehensive electrical infrastructure improvements to support new USPS mail processing equipment and enhance energy efficiency, aligning with USPS’s evolving logistics performance objectives.
