Granite City, IL – Guarantee Electrical Company (GECO) is pleased to announce the completion of its most recent healthcare project in O’Fallon, IL.  HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital opened its doors to new patients in November of 2017.   Due to the Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) method, the replacement hospital involved considerable turnkey electrical and building systems planning during preconstruction, included frequent pricing evaluations, cost controls, and value-engineering.  Guarantee’s in-house engineering group (GECO Engineering) provided a fully coordinated and clashed building information model allowing the electrical craftsmen and other trades to coordinate construction and scheduling activities to accelerate the fast-tracked project during construction.

The new facility features a substantial number of advanced medical technologies within its 11 new operating theaters:

  • A da Vinci® Robotic Surgical System, providing magnified 3-D imaging for minimally invasive vascular and neurosurgical procedures.
  • A hybrid operating theater system installed by Guarantee Electrical, featuring a fully integrated digital technology which provides electro-magnetic navigation for bronchoscopy in lung and complex vascular surgeries.  The system is additionally outfitted with audio-visual communications features which provide the ability to support remote consults and specialist assistance in real time surgical scenarios.
  • A new Pinpoint Imaging system for CT utilizes 60 percent less radiation (and electrical power) to produce improved precision imaging.  This system also includes 3-D biopsy equipment to support mammography and subsequent related cancer procedures.

The hospital broke ground on the construction project in June of 2015 after receiving unanimous approval from the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board (HFSRB) in April of the same year. Construction was managed by the Alberici-Holland Joint Venture and the building was designed by Kahler Slater Architects.  The $300 million facility is centrally located for the southwestern Illinois region and sits on 120 acres of land off Interstate 64 and North Green Mount Road.

St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon offers 144 private patient rooms, an emergency department, state-of-the-art operating theaters, an advanced intensive care unit, and inpatient rehabilitation. Additional inpatient and outpatient services at the new facility include cancer care, modern birthing suites, telehealth consultations featuring accredited stroke care, award-winning heart care, and much more.
